Description

Restore the Original Emission Hose Routing Information

This factory-style reproduction replaces a faded, damaged or missing DDS emission hose routing label used on selected 1988–1990 Chevrolet and GMC S/T-series trucks and SUVs equipped with the 4.3L LB4 V6.

The artwork was reconstructed from an original label documented on a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 pickup with the 4.3L VIN-code-Z engine and cross-referenced to GM service part number 10116677.

The original label shows the vacuum and emission-hose connections between the PCV valve, electronic vacuum regulator valve, MAP sensor, EGR valve, throttle-body injection unit, air-cleaner controls, vacuum motor, evaporative-emissions canister and fuel tank.

The original GM service label is discontinued, making this reproduction useful for engine-compartment restoration, detailing and replacement of an original diagram that has become faded, damaged or unreadable.

Verify This Label Before Ordering

The GM service number 10116677 is not printed on the face of the original label. The visible identifying code is DDS, located in the upper-right corner.

Order this reproduction only when all of the following match your vehicle:

  • The original label code is DDS.
  • The vehicle has the 4.3L LB4 V6.
  • The eighth character of the VIN is Z.
  • The emissions application is NA5 Federal or NA6 High Altitude.
  • The vehicle is not equipped with the NM8 leaded-fuel/export emissions package.
  • The complete hose-routing diagram matches the vehicle’s installed components.

This label is not intended for California-emissions applications. California-equipped LB4 vehicles used different emissions information and a different GM label reference.

You can use the GMT Central GM VIN decoder to confirm the engine code and the GM RPO code decoder to interpret the vehicle’s Service Parts Identification codes.

Trim-to-Fit Construction

The label is intentionally supplied trim-to-fit. This allows the installer to cut closely around the printed outside border and create a clean finished edge before installation.

Complete all trimming while the protective backing remains attached. Use sharp scissors or a precision craft knife, a straightedge and a protected cutting surface.

Installation

  1. Confirm the DDS code, engine, emissions RPO and complete routing diagram.
  2. Test-fit the reproduction at the vehicle’s original label location.
  3. Trim carefully around the outside printed border while the backing remains attached.
  4. Remove the old label and as much remaining adhesive as practical.
  5. Clean the mounting surface with a residue-free cleaner appropriate for the surface.
  6. Allow the surface to dry completely.
  7. Peel back a small portion of the backing and align the label.
  8. Apply gradually from one side to the other while pressing outward to reduce trapped air.
  9. Press firmly across the entire label, paying particular attention to the edges.

Apply only to a clean, smooth and dry surface. Do not apply to a hot engine component or directly beside an exhaust component. Use the remaining adhesive outline, original label or vehicle-specific reference photography to confirm placement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is GM part number 10116677 not visible on the label?

GM 10116677 is the service-catalog reference for the label. The visible artwork-identification code printed in the upper-right corner is DDS. Customers should match DDS and the complete diagram rather than looking for 10116677 on the original label.

Does this fit both Chevrolet and GMC vehicles?

Yes. The same DDS label is cataloged for corresponding Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15 pickup, Blazer and Jimmy applications when equipped with the required 4.3L LB4 engine and emissions package.

Does it fit both 2WD and 4WD vehicles?

Yes. The part is catalog-supported for both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive S/T-series applications. The engine, emissions codes and routing diagram must still match.

Does it fit every 4.3L S-10 or S-15?

No. The vehicle must use the LB4 engine with VIN code Z, the DDS label design and an NA5 or NA6 emissions application. Later 4.3L engines and other emissions configurations may use different routing diagrams.

Does this fit California-emissions vehicles?

No. California-emissions LB4 vehicles used a different emissions-information label. Do not order this DDS reproduction solely because the vehicle has a 4.3L engine.

Does it fit 1982–1987 trucks?

No. Some online catalog pages use broad 1982–1990 or 1983–1990 headings for the entire S/T model family, but the specific DDS application is tied to the 4.3L LB4 configuration used in the 1988–1990 range.

Does it fit a 1991 or later GMC Sonoma?

No catalog support was found for this label on 1991 or later Sonoma applications. Later vehicles should use the label number and artwork specified for their original engine and emissions configuration.

Is this an original General Motors label?

No. This is a newly manufactured aftermarket reproduction produced for GMT Central. It is not a genuine GM, New Old Stock or used original label.

Is the label pre-cut?

No. It is supplied trim-to-fit so the installer can cut closely around the outside printed border before installation.

Will installing this label guarantee that the vehicle passes an inspection?

No. This product is intended for restoration and reference use. Inspection requirements and acceptance are determined by the applicable state or local authority. The label does not certify the vehicle’s emissions configuration or legalize missing, modified or incorrect emissions equipment.

What should I do if my original label is missing?

Confirm that the eighth VIN character is Z, locate the LB4 and NA5 or NA6 codes on the Service Parts Identification label, inspect the installed emissions equipment and compare the routing diagram carefully. If the configuration differs, submit photographs and dimensions through the GMT Central custom label request page.
